Jack Miller was born in Chicago and moved to Sioux City, Iowa in 1932. He received degrees from Creighton University (A.B.), Catholic University (M.A.) and the Columbia University Law School. He worked as a tax lawyer, a writer and an educator. He served in the Air Force during World War II.
